I heard that as soon as you booked your interview you cannot travel to the US until you have your visa in hand, is that true ? I was planning to go see my sweetheart this week end to celebrate our engagement anniversary. Im canadian and cross the border once a month to see my fiance, i've never overstay and i always have proof of stong ties in canada (mortgage statement, employer letter...). Will i have problems at the border ? Did the embassy red flag me at the border ?? Im very looking foward to that long weekend wich will be the last until i move next november

Help please !

Thanks :)

As far as I know you are okay to keep travelling until after the actual interview. At the interview they will take your passport from you (to glue the visa inside) and you will receive it back a few days or a week later. At that time you won't have a passport so won't be able to cross. As far as crossing with the visa in your passport -they usually will not let you cross without you activating it (and it is a one time activation/entry only). I may try to apply for an enhanced driver's license although the current wait times to get an appointment for that are up to mid October. Still investigating if that is okay to use instead of my passport with the visa.
