Hi Gary,

You are a tremendous help to us all! I am new here, seeking a K-1 for my Fiancee from Odessa. I have NOA1, and the application is at the VSC. Crazy that I had to send it to Texas only to have it sent right back to the VSC practically in my backyard.

I read some other posts and I want to clarify. You mentioned not to rely on the online updates webpage? But instead call them? I can see here where some people update their timelines to say their application was "touched". I'm hoping to simply know it is being processed and not sitting in a bin someplace under no action. Will they tell me this on the phone? If they send me no RFE's can I assume it will process faster than the 5 months currently listed for the VSC or is this just how things work? A lot of waiting. I was hoping to have her in the Intensive English Program at St. Mikes this summer but it's doubtful at this point that will line up.

Any other advice you can give will be welcomed. Looks like you like close to me, I congratulate you on bringing Alla to Vermont, I'm sure she loves it here. I'm hoping Irina will as well.

Alla taught the IEP and AEP at St Mikes during her Practicum II for her MA-TESOL degree, also from St Mike's. A fellow Purple Knight!

Yes, we live close to you. I was in Milton yesterday as a matter of fact.

Do not call USCIS it does little good and the online updates are often unreliable. You can use it but expect a whole lot of nothing. Our case is still listed as "initial review". I promise you, your file is sitting in a bin waiting in line. It takes about 20 minutes to process it when the time comes. Updates mean the "bin" (box) got moved around.

If you are up in St Albans the VSC is located just off rte 7 on lower Welden (what is left of it there, which is the mail handlng and a couple departments, VAWA and AWA for example) Your petition will be adjudicated at the Essex Jct location just east of "5 corners" on River street in the IBM industrial park.

Gary,

It certainly is a small world, and it's great to hear Alla had immediate success here. So I'm assuming you recommend the IEA and AEP programs?! Any other transitional programs you know of at CCV or elsewhere that are good? Irina is a Doctor in UA, she is an OB/GYN and I have been in contact with a residency coordinator here. If she can pass STEP 1 and STEP 2 exams she will be in great shape, I just don't want the language and terminology tripping her up.

So I'm confused on the best way to check on the status of the visa application. Don't call? And the online status is unreliable? So is there a way to check on it? I'm familiar with all the Immigration locations, 2 in St. Albans, and the facility in Williston. I wasn't aware there was one in Essex too!? I work at IBM!!! On the Williston side of the campus as a chip designer. Any advice you have on best way to check status is very welcome. Thanks in advance.

Re: Milton, I'm not sure Irina is going to like it there! :) I live on the Milton - Westford Road, on the hill (17 acres) across from the horse farms. She calls it..... "the forest". LOL. We'll move if she can't do it but I'm hoping she'll like the spot.

Thanx again for everything Gary, you're a big help. Irina and I are anxious for this to happen, I think I submitted overwhelming evidence from 4 visits to see her, no criminal records, good finances, etc., so I'm hoping this goes as quickly as possible.

Gary I just wanted to tell you that the ZAGS paperwork for her divorce all checked out. We ha e what we need already. This form basically states the divorce is official and assigns who will carry what last name(s) moving forward.

We're almost 3 months in since NOA1. No word yet on status but no RFE either!

I hope you're on the water in the islands. It's damn hot.
