Canadian getting a California DL

My husband (who's from Newfoundland) is about to take his test for a California driver's license.

I'm wondering if there are any rules or laws here (in Cali) that are significantly different than in Canada?

For example, in California you can make a right turn on a red light, in other states you can't.

Are there any rules like that I should warn him about?

Thanks in advance for your help!

they gave a guide book a your nearest DMV, get one and read, it also help if your husband go to DMV site and try their simulation writing test, mostly the question came form there, i just take the writing test and pass on first try ( i read the book and get the simulation test ) its pretty easy,,now just more practice for the driving test..

Actually since 1980 all states have allowed right turns on red. This is a outdated thing that people still think the US still has in some states.

But yes, the current copy of the California DMV handbook or whatever will explain all the stuff he needs to know that is different from up in Canada (if there really is much difference that is)...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...

Have your husband go to the DMV webpage. He can download the booklet with all the info he will need for the test.

Good luck!

ok, then texting while driving - whatever. My point wasn't the specific law but only that you can cross a border and things change, and you might not realize it.

Thanks for the suggestions (everyone) about the dmv website. I've already given him those, I was thinking more of things he might just do (or not do) without thinking about it, because it's legal where he's from. For example, the idea of "curbing your wheels" was new to him.

Thanks anyway.
