Depending on what airline you bought tickets on, they might request seeing the credit card that paid for the tickets. I know if you used Delta, you can take care of that at a Delta ticket counter or office in the states. Which ever airline you used, call or check their website to see what you need to do. Also, check the tickets and it will say if the taxes were paid for departing Manila. For sure they will have to pay the departure fee which is 500 or 550, I forget now, lol...

If your talking about paying for food on the plane, yes its credit card use on Delta for sure. HNL to states isnt an extremely long flight, have them bulk up on food at the airport before getting on the plane.

Good Luck..

I have traveled to the Philippines 4 times over the last two years and have never had to buy food on a plane. Meals came with the ticket. The only money I had to pay was the exit tax at manila and for coffee in the airports while I was waiting for the next plane to take off. The meals on the plane were quite adequate enough to get me through the trip without being hungry. I used the time on the plane to catch up on some much needed and deserved sleep.

OP is concerned about his families travel from Hawaii to the mainland USA where if this is considered domestic (depending on airline) there is nothing free. Just wanted to clarify.

for traveling kids/infants you can get a tax exemption at the department of tourism building. you just ned to bring the passport and birth cert. the certificate is p200 and youd save about p1,600+?

another cost would be terminal fee. prepare about 800/pax.

If Philippine airlines, I bought several tickets for my fiance and they always said they might need to see a copy of my credit card, but have never actually asked. But it might not be a bad idea to send to her, just careful not to just throw it away, etc.
