I mailed out a packet to the NVC center in Portsouth, NH just as it says to on the cover letter. I also added tracking to the flat rate envelope through the USPS. Apparently the office is closed on Saturdays and I just checked the tracking number and got this message:

Your Item's Status:We attempted to deliver your item at 11:14 am on August 04, 2012 in PORTSMOUTH, NH 03801 and a notice was left because the business was closed. You may arrange redelivery by visiting (gives website URL)or calling 800-ASK-USPS, or may pick up the item at the Post Office indicated on the notice. If this item is unclaimed after 15 days then it will be returned to the sender. Information, if available, is updated periodically throughout the day. Please check again later.

.....I've mailed one before for another family member and had no problems. Is this normal where I just got lucky before that if the mail just happens to be delivered on a weekend that its returned to he sender?

I got the same notice when I filed my I-129F petition at the Texas lockbox location, my package arrived on a Saturday. You should have no worries, a NVC employee should pick up the mail from the PO Box on Monday. Check again on Monday.

Thanks, that makes sense or they'd have thousands returned each week that would have to be re-mailed. I guess that'd be one way for the post office to make a lot of money :)
