Hello VJ member's,

I'm a US citizen and my wife is in India gathering necessary civil documents. She doesn't have the long form birth certificate as requested on NVC website (http://goo.gl/OUAYk), but she has the following documents:

  1. Community, Nativity & Date of birth certificate which only has her name, place of birth, date of birth and father's name. It doesn't include mother's name.
  2. Ration card with her name and date of birth and both her parents name on it.

Are these documents enough to support date of birth certificate requirement? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Siva

It is always better to have BC, I think your wife is born after 1/1/1970.

If she is, then, For Indian Citizens, it is required to have BC. You can register her birth at the place of birth by going to registrar of birth/death.

You are writing, she has some documents to prove her birth...That can be used to register her birth.

Good Luck

Thanks Deep2009... I'll ask my wife to look into it.
