I'm the US Citizen and my fiancee lives in India. We should probably go to the doctor before our wedding so we have some kind of plan in place since we are only 25 and not ready for kids. My question is regarding Health care options for my fiancee, since she won't be able to join my insurance policy until we are married (using K-1 visa we will be married in US).

Is there some kind of health insurance I should purchase for 1 or 2 months before our marriage here, or should we just do the doctor visit in India? She lives outside of Delhi, UP, and I'm guessing health-care is not bad there. I'm not sure if it's as good as in US, but what do you think our best option is?

I really want to avoid "barrier method" protection for our wedding night and honeymoon if I can help it. I'm unsure about the hormonal pills and patches also, but it's looking that way.

Anyways, I think the only way to do that is to visit the doctor, and without her having insurance, I'm guessing the cost will be very high. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

There is new immigrant insurance that lasts a few weeks to one year.

Your fiancée can also get these items from their home country and bring the to the US if birth control is your only concern.
