Medical reports

I have my medical scheduled for next Thursday - eek! On the Knightsbridge web page it says that I need to bring "Medical reports of any past or current illnesses including psychiatric."

Does this mean that I need a print out of my entire medical history? I have had a few surgeries in my life, but the only current condition that I have is anxiety. Will they want the whole history though? Your replies would be very much appreciated as I have my GP phoning tomorrow so I need to know what to ask him for.

They need to have more information if you have any medical condition they can't evaluate by poking you and looking in your ears and mouth in their short time with you. So for a person with diabetes or high blood presure for example, a letter/memo/report written by the GP should tell a little history of the condition (diagnosis, how long you've been treated for it), meds taken to treat it, prognosis for recovery or managementment. For anxiety, depression, or psychological conditions, I believe the magic words need to be written that he does not think you "will be a harmful to yourself or others" because of your condition.

Look at the medical survey form list of "Have you ever been treated for......"

If you say "yes" to any of those, they probably want a little background from the doctor who knows your health.

I had my medical done in London knightbridge doctors. I had one surgery which i did not metion in form but told doctors about surgery in medical and she made note of it on piece of paper. About your anxiety. I been through a time when i suffered with very severe anxiety after losing my husband & brother in 10 days. I did not mention anything about it as my case was more like breavemnet.

I think it is more like if someone try to self harm or harm others becasue of depression or any other mental issues then they would like to know about it

I had cancer 18 years ago. Obviously I am fully recovered but they still wanted a letter from my doctor detailing the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.

As Nich-Nick said, you want your GP to write the magical "no harm to others or self" letter for your anxiety. For your surgeries, depends what they were. Look at the list of things they ask about. If it's obvious a surgery is completely unimportant (like...toe nail removal) then that's ok, otherwise try to get a short note from your GP detailing diagnosis, treatment, prognosis. If he's willing to do all that for you hopefully you should get your medical completed without needing further evidence. Else your GP can always write whatever is required after you've had the medical :-)

Thanks! My GP phoned and rather unenthusiastically agreed to write me a letter regarding the anxiety. It should be ready (along with my vaccination records) on Tuesday. I'm just hoping it's a nice letter!

Can't say that I am looking forward to the medical if I am honest. I have an intense fear of needles and London is 100 miles away from home, so it's not as though I can have the medical and then be home in 10 minutes to curl up in bed. I'm much less worried about the interview, even though that is the final and most significant part to all this!

Im also not looking forward to the medical. Its 100 miles from where i live too. That makes for a very expensive day!

I came from Cardiff. Expensive because of the train but the medical wasn't too bad at all.

They seemed fairly flexible when I asked but you might end up on a busy day.

Where are you coming from? Train into London paddington isn't too bad from some places. National Express is also good for coaches into Victoria and Megabus is good if you can get a suitable time

Im coming from Nottingham. I have to go to London to do my daughters CRBA on the 31st August and we're going on the train then because theres no way she is going to sit still for the 3 hours 45 on the national express. Its £120 return for that because we have to be there for 9am. When im going for the medical and interview i dont care how i get there as long as its cheap! With any luck i can get a decent time.
