Hello,

I'm sure everyone's situation is unique, so I thought I would post mine and hopefully get some advice. My girlfriend currently lives in India but is a Canadian citizen. She wants to come to the US to get her MBA and during that time, I'm sure our relationship will develop into something more. If an engagement happens in spring 2013 while she is studying, will she still be able to attend school in fall 2013? If an engagement does happen, I'm contemplating a January2014 wedding ceremony in India, but I'm not opposed to getting legally married in the US beforehand. I'm aware of the K1 and CR1 options, just wasn't sure if she would be able to mix her master's degree into that.

At this point in time, nothing is set in stone, just want to see what my options are. Also, I think I read this somewhere, but just to double check, if I go the CR1 route, if she visits the US in December2012 with her family and we get legally married here and she goes back with her family, we would be able to start the CR1 process, correct? And if CR1 is granted, she would be able to fly back and forth with no hassle, correct? Would she be able to start school for spring 2014 as a conditional resident without having to fill out extra paperwork?

If we go the K1 route and start that process say November2012, would we be able to get the visa and apply for advance parole before a potential January2014 (enough time for processing time issues?) wedding ceremony in India? While she is here on K1, would she be able to go to school without extra paperwork?

Thanks in advance for all your help, I have learned a lot already, just got hung up on a few specifics.
