I went to Robinsons Ermita today to get my NBI Clearance. I filled out the form and put my Philippine address as my Present Address (because I've been living in the Phils. since birth and I've never traveled abroad). The guy who typed and verified my information asked for a US address where I will be staying when he saw that I have "For Immigrant Visa" as my purpose of getting a clearance. I gave it to him and asked why he needed it. He said that I should have put my US address as my present address and not my Philippine address. So weird! I told him I've never been to the States. He insisted, so I gave in. He typed and saved all my information. I had my biometrics and picture taken. Then the lady at the releasing section stamped a date on my receipt. I was surprised because every year I would get my NBI Clearance and I would be able to get it within the day. Today I got a "hit", and I have to wait two weeks! So sad!

Hi!

Ive also got my nbi clearance at robinsons mall. At first i used my manila address and got the clearance the same day. However, my uncle who happens to be an employee at NBI told my mother that i must use our provincial home address so i went back and request it. I told the lady clerk that i will be using it for my visa application and she used Travel to USA as the purpose. I found it also weird that they asked me to go back after 2 weeks and i did! Now i have two clearances both with "No record on file" result. Dont worry as long as you've not done anything it will give a positive result! Godbless!

It happens when u will use ur nbi to travel abroad. I myself waited for 1 month to claim my clearance.

sis that is normal. But on my case, I put Travel Abroad and I got it within that day.

I e-mailed the NBI and here's what I've got:

Good Morning!

If you used a purpose of Immigration Requirement (for permanent residency) you need your abroad address. If you were just a first time traveller in other country either you need a Travel USA or Visa USA purposed clearance.

With HIT means you have namesake, it will be for record check.

Thank you!

NBI E-CLEARANCE HELPDESK

I am still confused because I'm a first time traveler in the US, and I'm getting it as an immigration requirement. *sigh*
