Sent my application (129f) in on May 24, 2012 (via First Class Certified mail - U.S. Post Office). For some strange it was not received until June 18, 2012. I received an email telling me my acceptance number and the web link to track my case. It is now 12 July 2012 and I still have not received my hard copy notification. My file is in Vermont, at what point can I call to inquire about my hard copy, I am assuming this is NOA1.

Mailed 5-24-12

Accepted 6-18-12 (Via Email)

Today 7-12-12 (still no paperwork or NOA)

The reason I ask is the average I am seeing is 6 days, I am almost 2 months into this already (counting the Post office Gaff)

You have your USCIS case #, I believe that the hard copy NOA1 serves no real purpose. I do not think it is asked for at any time, etc. (I could be wrong).

If you really want a hard copy you could try the USCIS 800 number.

In regards to your mail not making it to until nearly 3 weeks after you sent it, are you sure you sent it to the right place? The correct address in Texas?

I sent it to the Lockbox in Texas indicated on the 129f Instructions - The problem was the post office. I sent 4 or 5 emails requesting tracking, did not receive one single reply (if you call you cannot talk to a human). I was about to drop a second application in the mail the day it arrived.

So you are saying the Notification by Email is the same as the NOA1? And there is no additional information on NOA1? If that is correct, it sure takes a load off. The website Uscis, says not to contact them for at least 30 days, which would be July 18th for me. In addition to the fact from what I read here calls are pointless, I did not want to lose my place in line.

That is correct. There is no additional info on the hard copy. (As far as I am aware- I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong).

The only info is your case # and that your application has been accepted.

You can check your case status online now using you case # on the USCIS website.

Edit: The problem with the mail could be that certified mail requires a signature and you were mailing to a lockbox?

Edit Edit: I also did a quick google and it appears First Class Certified mail "...is not a trackable service (delivery information can be accessed, but the item cannot be tracked)" [uPS website]

I remember several weeks ago the USCIS website said that I797's would be "delayed" due to unusually high volume. I would suspect you haven't received it because of that. There is not a lot of useful information on the I797 you get right after sending in your petition.
