How Efficent is Montreal these days?

Hello Everyone,

Posted this on another forum but figured I'd probably get more information directing it to the Canada region...

Looks like our case has been sent to Montreal!(as of June 15) :)

Does anyone have recent wait times for Montreal to:

1. Log our petition

2. Send out packet 3

3. Send out packet 4

Also, how hard is it to book an interview these days after the packet 4 ordeal? This time last year it was taking MONTHS since the website kept saying "No appointments available" and it was just the luck of the draw. Is this still the case?

Please advise! Thanks! :)

I sent out my packet 3 on the 11th of this month, it got logged today, and I have an interview scheduled for the 23rd of July. I guess its not a busy time for Montreal. It took them pretty much exactly a week to send my packet 4 from the time I mailed in packet 3.

I am really surprised. Maybe they are just pulling their socks up lately?

That's great news! I'm hoping we have the same luck. I'll be calling tomorrow to see if the consulate received our case, in which they should have. I'm ready to get this show on the road! Thanks for the reply.

Good luck with your interview! :)

Hey, that's pretty awesome! I hope it stays that way for a month or two... I'm still waiting for my NOA2, but hoping that it'll be here sometime within the next few weeks :)

USCIS to the NVC will be your next battle once you receive your NOA2. It only took us 2 weeks but for some others it takes about a month just for the USCIS to send to the NVC! It's crazy. I wish you much luck in the rest of your wait. :) I feel pretty lucky so far! Hope it continues.

That's impressive! I remember when I did my K-1 about 3 years ago, it took about 5 months from when they got my packet 3 to get an interview.

took me one week from the time packet 3 was sent to received packet 4 via email...from there you book and pay online (ONLY) now. you cannot pay at interview anymore... you need to register with DHL with CSC while booking your interview. from there you print out your confirmation copies and book medical ....you will need to bring these confirmation copies to the medical and interview....if you don't you cannot get inside the consulate for the interview....i'd printed out 2 copies just to be safe. when i booked my interview there was approx a 25 day wait.....but that was back in may. not sure what the summer months are like....i understand MTL consulate operates as usual but with staff taking holidays they may reduce the number of interview slots. you want to book the 8am interview as there has been talk that the guards may turn you away if you arrive too early. when i booked there was 8am was the only time offered.

good luck!smile.gif

Wow all this is very pleasant to read. I hope they (Mtl consulate) keep their good work until I get to this point. I am waiting for my NOA2 and should probably receive it in September I do think.

Also hoping that MTL can keep up this fast turn around. We just got our petition to NVC. So I'm anxious to hear that it's been sent to MTL by the end of the week. We have a case number already, so it won't be long before it's forwarded. I just want to know that I'm going to get a nice short wait to get my interview. Does anyone know if we can fax back our checklist like they do at Vancouver and get package 4 out sooner? I know a weeks is quick, but every minute counts when you want to be with your sweetheart.

Keep in mind, pace can slow down during the summer months as thats 1 of the big posting in and out times. So staff is preparing to leave and new members getting used to the new office. Some of the workers are family members, and of course they require training!! Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yeah, this! We were lucky when we got one four months from our NOA2 date - the next day all they had were ones 6 months from our date. It makes me happy to read that they've picked up the pace!

Just got my NOA2 on July 19th from VSC and hopefully NVC will receive it soon to foward it at the Montreal consulate. How long you think I will have to wait for the Montreal consulate to log it ? If I understand correctly I have to wait for packet 4 to be able to book an interview ? Is it still a 2-4 months wait to get an interview date ? What is the busiest time of the year for them ? Is it realistic of me to think i would get my visa in hand 3-5 months from now ?
