Hi everyone,

We have our AOS interview at 0800 tomorrow morning and I'm slightly stressed out. It's a long drive with an 11 week-old baby and it is so early in the morning.

I'm bringing :

- A baby. Our son is the main reason for me marrying my husband and remaining in the US. Also, no daycare and babies are cute.

- All originals of the documents I sent in.

- Copies of the originals.

- Evidence of a bona fide marriage : joint bank account, joint lease, joint car insurance, child birth certificate, baby book

- Evidence of intent to return to Canada this summer : unused return plane ticket, medical travel insurance policy, evidence of me cancelling my internships

Anything missing?

06.04.11 - Entered US as a tourist

09.02.11 - Married

03.03.12 - Filed AOS & I-130

04.26.12 - Biometrics appointment

06.13.12 - Interview - approved!

06.21.12 - Green card in hand :)

Oh sweetie, I hope you didn't toss in bed all night worrying!

I also hope you didn't tell the USCIS your number one reason for marrying. I'd say it's a better idea to talk about your feelings than a baby forcing you to stay together. I hope the little cutie handles his first road trip fine. It sounds like you have everything you need and I'm sure you'll be fine. Let us know how it went!

Heh, I did end up telling the Immigration Officer that I got married because of the baby. I'm 29, husband is 30 - it's not a tragic teen pregnancy, I didn't even think I could have children after some reproductive health issues in my teens.

If it wasn't for the surprise pregnancy, we would have gone the K1 route. It's a second marriage for us both (first kid), and we were happy just taking it slow and visiting every month. I have no regrets and I love our son, love our family and love our life BUT - it wasn't the plan! :)

She asked a couple of questions, joked around with us and told us she'll approve our petition, should get the card within the month.

The whole thing took less than 10 minutes!

Congratulations. A pregnancy is about the best explanation for changing your nonimmigrant intent that I can think of.

Congrats! I'm glad it all went well. I see your point now. And that's why I sometimes think (even though the forum is undoubtedly very resourceful) that you yourself know best what you're doing. Enjoy your new life!
