Visa Free entry to Mexico during ROC with expired GC and I-751 NOA

Mexico allows US GC holders to enter their country without a visa regardless of your nationality. At the port of entry you just need to show them your valid passport and valid GC. I was wondering if anyone has successfully entered Mexico while in the ROC process by showing:

(1) your valid passport from third country

(2) expired GC

(3) I-751 NOA that says your residency has been extended for a year.

In theory this should be no issue but port of entry immigration inspectors are notoriously inflexible in any country. So, showing a piece of paper, watermarked and fancy looking though it may be, may just not fit as acceptable documentation within their rules.

I may need to do this later this year so I would love to know if anyone else has already succeeded. A precedent is always useful.
