In a first, Hindus are top 5 in AMU Class XII exam

Lucknow, 2012/05/26 01:43

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) may be regarded as a citadel of Muslim education, but the top five positions in the Class XII examination of the university this year have been bagged by Hindu students. AMU officials confirmed this was a first.

University PRO Rahat Abrar said: “In Class XII results, the top five positions have been held by Hindu students. They are our students, AMU does not discriminate on religion and caste basis. They deserved it and they have got the honours. The AMU fraternity is proud of its secular credentials.”

The results of the Secondary School Certificate Part II (Class XII) Examination-2012 of the AMU were announced Wednesday. The topper is Madhav Chowdhry with 91% marks, followed by Ashish Gupta with 89.75% marks while Suraj Raghav, Umang Bhardwaj and Mayank Jain, are together placed third with 88.75% marks on the merit list.

A total of 1,275 students secured first division while 636 secured second division and 57 third. AMU runs two high schools and two senior secondary schools (one for boy and one for girls) on the campus.

President, AMU Research Scholars’ Association, Jasim Mohammad claimed the development showed there was no discrimination in the university. “In several departments, Hindu students outnumber Muslims. The tag of Muslim educational institution to the outside world should not mean that AMU is a ghettoised Muslim institute,” he said.

Faculties like JN Medical College, MBA, computers science have more Hindu than Muslim students. “On an average we have a 3:2 ratio in favour of Muslims but it should not be treated as any benchmark. Anyone who is eligible is given admission and all facilities are common,” said PRO Abrar.

I wouldn't trust any University with a religious affiliation - science and religion don't mix.

Muslims created the modern university system while Europeans were still wallowing in their own feces.

Why?

Because doctrine compromises its academic integrity.
