You'll need to submit photocopies of all the documents submitted to NVC. The DS-230 part I and II have to be an original printout, current dated, with your signature on part I. I had gone to submit a copy of DS-230 and was told that the consulate requires an original, that too current dated. Also, the medical report needs to be submitted to VFS. The x-ray is to be kept with you. Do not take the x-ray for the interview. It is not required there. The x-ray is to be carried with you when you travel to the US. You'll also need to pay the VFS courier fee of Rs 393/- if I'm not wrong. In case you want to pickup the passport from VFS yourself, once you've paid the fee, instruct them to hold your passport.

Bear in mind that all these documents need to be submitted at least four working days prior to the date of the interview.

On the interview day, please make sure you get to the consulate by 6.45 am as the line forms rather quickly and the later you get there, the longer it'll take for you to finish your interview. A small ladies handbag is allowed inside the Mumbai consulate, but please ensure there are no electronic objects, sharp objects, etc. To be on the safer side, just carry your wallet with you. Carry as much evidence as you can, for no evidence is enough evidence.

Hope this helps. Wish you all the very best, and hoping to hear a very positive reply from your end in terms of the interview soon. Many blessings!

PS - Go through the consulate review I have posted. It could help you.

No, the consulate does not ask for x-ray. I did see a lot of people carrying the x-rays with them on the day of my interview, but I'd already been informed by VFS not to carry it. It's just a waste of time.

Yes, it's really helpful, as I reached the consulate at 7 sharp for my 7.30 interview, but a q had already been formed and I had 30 odd people ahead of me. So yes, it helps.

Hi Divs,

Can we submit relation evidence as well to VFS or not?As far as I know vfs except all the documents except wedding albums.

Also, whilst submitting documents , can I put them in separate envelopes or submit them as it is in one bunch?

Thanks

No, all relationship evidence and other documents are to be carried to the interview. VFS does not accept any of those. And no, you just hand over the documents and they'll bag it with your case number.

Guys, forgot to mention that you also need to carry two passport-size photographs (exactly like the ones submitted to NVC) as well as your interview letter for submission at VFS.

Thanks Divs for this valuable information coz all applicants just know that they hav to carry everythg to Consulate during their Interview

i would like to ask is that US Consulate Mumbai has just posted video on their facebook page that shows they hav improved the entrance process of all applicants when they start to enter the consulate....Early their was queque for all applicants and now there is shade and sitting arrangement done/// also i saw a video which describe application process inside consulate for NIV applicants where the applicants are sitting in a hall and their token nos r called and infront of the sitting area windows r located where applicants go for their interview....but one thg i doubt that during interview with CO is it that applicant goes in a seperate area or cabin where only applicant and CO are there rather than common window where all others sitting can see other applicants interview???? Is this same for Immigrant Visa applicants or different than NIV???

Also, during Pre screening when Indian officer asks questions after biometrics do they question from behind the window or straight face to face to applicants???
