From the US Embassy in Qatar where I have been a resident of for 15 years:

Recommended Additional Documents

-Letter from your employer with your monthly salary

-Past six months of continuous bank statements

Since they recommend six months of continuous bank statements.. what if I only have five?? Say I started my job and opened a bank account in February 2012 and want to travel to the US mid-August 2012.. will they be that picky? Or should I wait until July so that I have six months of pay being deposited into my account? I'm afraid if we wait until July to apply it will take a long time if they decide to issue the visa. Letter from employer is not a problem.

Thanks for any insight
