I wonder if anybody here in visajourney have an idea about Au Pair.

I wanted to hire Au Pair in the future, and wanted it to be Filipina.

Is my expenses for Au Pair tax deductible?

Would be nice to read some insights.

I am thinking of using the Au Pair agency that is certified by US Dept. of Labor. Would it still be impossible? I guess I am more comfortable for Filipina than from other country.

if you have selected a person to be an aupair, or are just looking for a Filipina in general, it is possible. However, it is only tax deductible as a child care provider in your home. There are a lolt of restrictions and legislation to look at. 1) the auPair has their own room. 2) the room must have a lock on it which works, plus a bed, dresser, desk optional. 3) you will pay for their car insurance 4) you will pay them weekly, plus be required to pay for any incidentals in taking care of your children, meals out, supplies, etc. 5) Consider if the AuPair has medical experience or not. 6) Most Likely you will be giving the AuPair legal right of representation in a medical emergency until a parent arrives. 7) an Aupair is a 3 month to 2 year contract... typically 2 years at most. This is a special visa and requires a certified organization to do the legwork. This will be deep in detail analysis including investigation and background checks.

At one time, I know UK and USA banned AuPairs from the Philippines (high conversion rate to marriage plus breaking of many contracts). I do not know the current status.

02/18/2011 - Engagement party with relatives - propose in Visayan.

02/24/2011 - K-1 packet sent.

09/18/2011 - POE, Viva Las Vegas, Baby !!!!! Home to Phoenix.

12/10/2011 - Official Wedding

07/05/2012 - Princess Rose born.

07/07/2012 - AP/EAD received.

07/17/2012 - AOS passed. (Birthday for Mama Rayos)

Yep. Au Pair for taking care of a child.

Though, would be nice to find Filipina in my area that wanted to work as child care.

There is no Au Pair program in the Philippines just like the US has with some countries in Europe. So really your chance would be to be able to afford to let her come here on a working visa.They'll probably scrutinize your motivations and your finances for sure knowing that a lot of nannies are available here in the US.

The language thing could be a good consideration. I'd want our kids to be fluent in my native tongue, and a Filipina au pair would help with that.

Yep. I primarily wanted my kid to learn tagalog and have filipino culture as well as being Catholic. I don't like the Catholic practice here, I find it too hypocrite. Having a Filipino nanny would help to develop Filipino culture on them.
