For what it's worth, I had discovered a mix up on my fiancées mother's maiden name when we were trying to secure Phil Health insurance...we submitted the correction to her birth and marriage cert, and put on all docs the name we changed it to from that point on. I didn't have to submit G325a for the correction (as we put what we "thought" the name was and what we eventually changed it to), but this was relevant to the other DS forms for the visa interview to be sure we put the correct spelling. I thought it would bring up discrepancy on the CENOMAR, but my fiancée put what we changed the name to and we had no problems.

Long story short, would suggest to make the correction with the local authorities and then put that on your docs from here on. Note that they likely will not scrutinize information about mother of fiancée as much as the fiancée herself. Keep in mind that sometimes it's easier to see if an issue comes up, rather than creating one...

Finally, I did notice an error on the 325a after we submitted the K1 petition, where I omitted the work and residence info...I then made the correction and submitted to the service center, and it appears it was accepted and no RFE was generated. I thought it was best to be proactive on this one, since we left the sections blank...that definitely would have produced an RFE.

Not advice, just sharing my experience ;-)
