I am kindly asking anyone who is able to please help me clarify a few things which i am still not clear on.

1. When do I get started on getting my police clearance certificate from my country. (my country takes 3 weeks to process) i am currantly awaiting my approval on my I-130. As per my time line you will notice I recently submitted my responce to the RFE

2. I notice the DS-230 form has two parts. Am I expected to fill out the first part now and send it to my husband (UCS) along with a police certificate? Or should I wait for him to officially get to the NVC stage first before I attempt to send these things off.

3. With respect to the DS-230 part 2. Is this form filled out in the presence of the officials in the US embassy in Trinidad?

Thnak you

I am kindly asking anyone who is able to please help me clarify a few things which i am still not clear on.

1. When do I get started on getting my police clearance certificate from my country. (my country takes 3 weeks to process) i am currantly awaiting my approval on my I-130. As per my time line you will notice I recently submitted my responce to the RFE

The most opportune time to obtain the Police Certificate is immediately after receiving the NOA2 for your I-130 petition.

2. I notice the DS-230 form has two parts. Am I expected to fill out the first part now and send it to my husband (UCS) along with a police certificate? Or should I wait for him to officially get to the NVC stage first before I attempt to send these things off.

You need to fill out BOTH Part I & II, but only date and sign Part I and send both parts, along with the required civil documents needed for DS-230 to your husband. At your interview, you will date and sign Part II of the form in front of the consular officer. Again, the most opportune time to do this is right after you receive your NOA2 for your I-130 petition.

3. With respect to the DS-230 part 2. Is this form filled out in the presence of the officials in the US embassy in Trinidad?

No. it is not filled out in the presence of the officials, but it is SIGNED in the presence of officials.

Thnak you

Other than the above, does your husband know that once your application reaches the NVC, that he needs to submit Form I-864 Affidavit of Support? He knows that right?

The police certificate is good for 1 year so you should be safe ordering it Now. I don't think you have much longer until a decision is made on the petition.

As far as the DS-230, fill out all pages, but only sign the bottom of part I. Mail everything to your husband when you get the police cert.

1) Order it now! Things go pretty fast after your I-130 is approved (as you can see from my info). I ordered my police report in December, and we only just sent it in, in April (this month). I think that it is valid for 6 months.

2)You can wait or send it to him now. I sent my documents directly from Trinidad via FedEx - it arrived the next day and costed $278 TT.

3) Part 2 of the DS-230 is to be signed at the Trinidad embassy in front of an officer. You are to fill out up to number 44 and send it unsigned and number 45 left undone.

Hope this helps!
