According to the Flowchart located in Guides, After receiving the 2nd Notice of Action (NOA), my case gets forwarded by "MY" Service Center to the National Visa Center (NVC); then my case gets Forwarded by NVC to U.S. Embassy in my fiance's country.

My question is: What happens once it's at the "MY" National Visa Center (NVC)? I'm a little confused because it seem like they can just simply send it straight to my fiance's Embassy. Can you explain? Thank you in advance. :)

K1s briefly pass through the NVC to get a case number, checks (name checks)are done and then the case is forwarded to the embassy.

Some cases are held up at the NVC when they do the checks, this is called additional processing (AP). I think this doesn't happen often.

The embassy will contact the beneficiary when they receive the case from NVC

What is involved in "Name Checks"? Do they see if the beneficiary's name matches their birth certificate or what?

From what I read in the forum it seems they just do name , security/background checks. At this point they don't have the birth certificate of the beneficiary so I don't think they use that.

The NVC is the recipient of the handoff of your petition from one government bureaucracy, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), to another government bureaucracy, Department of State (DOS). The NVC is an agency of the DOS. That is the "Cliff Note" version. If you are in need of further explanation, while you are waiting for your petition approval, you may have time to browse through the Immigration and Naturalization Act (INA) of 1952, for a more thorough explanation.

Good luck on your immigration journey.
