New Fee Update!!!!

I have been waiting for the news from my fiance about the fee change since she paid Banco Popular yesterday so that I can tell you guys what to expect and I finally got it. She paid around $170 at Banco Popular which I don't understand and I hope that there is no problem when I get to the embassy for the interview. They gave her two receipts but I am hoping that she didn't pay the wrong things. If anyone has any clue as to why this happened or experienced anything similar please fill me in A.S.A.P.! Maybe she can go back and change it before we go...

Now for MORE GREAT NEWS out of D.R.... I was checking on the U.S. embassy's website to see if they updated the fees or at least explained the break down and I found this:

The application fees to process the immigrant visa applications and fiancee visas, K visas, decreased worldwide. Effective Friday April 13, 2012 the fee to process the immigrant visa applications decreased from US$330 to US$230 and the fees for Fiancee visas (K) decreased from US$350 to US$240. The fiancee applications needs to pay, the day of the interview, the non-refundable fee of US$80 at window # 12 of the Consular Section.

I was extremely happy to find this out... :dance: :dance: :dance: Now we just have to see if this is the same for the CR-1 visas as well. I think that it would be the same because it does say immigrant visa applications AND fiancee visas. I hope that we ALL benefit from this change and not just some.

I am not sure if these number are exact because I didn't write them down when she told me, but the first receipt was 6240 peso and the other was 580 peso. I will call her later to make sure that those numbers are correct, but that is what I remember.

Ok now it makes sense it is still the 15 fee the prob is that she paid in pesos. 580 pesos is equal to $14.90 somethin at the 39.00 pesos per dollar exchange rate and the 6240 pesos equal $160.00. :D:yes:

Thanks for the info DomRep!

I am assuming (someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Banco Popular -> $140 (K1) or $130 (Cr/Ir)

Embassy -> $80 (K1 & Cr/Ir)

Total -> $240 for K1 or $230 for Cr/Ir

You still need to 2 receipts from Banco Popular. They split the costs up. One cost is for Visa and other is a Processing Fee. We just don't know the exact number for each. It was a $16 Processing Fee before (maybe its the same). That would mean that the K1 Visa is $124 + 16 = $240 and the Marriage Visa is $114 + $16 = $230?

*Remember to get 1 receipt for each separate payment. 2 receipts, 2 separate payments at Banco Popular

K1 Visa Process -> 12/09-06/10 Married -> 09/10/10 AOS Process -> 09/10-12/10 Removal of Conditions-> 09/12-07/13

U.S. Naturalization -> 7/8/20

No problem bro... Remember the exchange rate is 39.05 to the dollar as of yesterday. So send your fiance around 7000 peso for both fees and that should be good.
