I don't need or want to make it a faster process. We WANT to get married in the Philippines with family there. However, I've been told too many things. I've heard if we do, it could take years (?) for her to finally to be able to move here (USA). We would have the marriage forms from the government, affadavits, pics, etc, honeymoon, etc etc, to prove we were married there. I also was told "just do the 1-129f".....thats not what we want. It might be quite a while before we'd return there, so we'd like to marry in May 2012.

So baring any problems, which we have none; Does using the I-130 visa application take a longer? A little longer is ok, 3-5 years....no! thanks for any replies; If you've used the 130, can you reply and tell me about the length of time it took. I just looked at the processing times today, and it said 187 days....thats fine with us, or are we missing something? John and Ann

You're looking at your I-130 petition being at USCIS for 5, 6 or 7 months, then another 30 - 60 days for the NVC stage. The process will not take you years to complete, just months.

Minus any indication of not being a citizen -- I assumed the OP is a citizen. Additionally the OP mentioned not wanting to pursue the I-129f petition option, which is only available to citizens.

Nope, won't take (2) years. We got married in the Philippines for the same reason as you & also for a more nice wedding/ honeymoon.

Our process took about (10) months but it would of been sooner if only I made the required financial limit in 2010. So because of that our process got pushed back a bit due to waiting for my 2011 tax returns & W-2 showing I meet the financial requirement. Either have a sponsor or make sure you make enough, along with plenty of relationship/ marriage evidences & correct documents w/ no RFE. Then you guys should be together quicker than you think, still will be challenging though.

We married, Sept, of last year.I got my marriage certificate after one month, from NSO. We filed the I-130 , November 2 of that year. And also, I-129 Nov.17.After 106 days of filing, were approved on both, the I-130 and I-129, with no RFE.Right now, i am only waiting for my interview on May 2.Good luck to you!.
