Salaam, everyone! I hope you all are doing well and each of your journeys is going smoothly, inshallah.

So, I'm sponsoring my fiance from Pakistan. NVC says they forwarded our case On April 9, 2012. I am anxious about a few things.

1) How will Islamabad send out Packet 3? Will they mail it to my fiance or EMAIL it (I read that one someone's forum discussion...) to me? The file did not have my fiance's email address, so they can't email it to him.

2) If they will mail out the Packet 3: On the G-329 that we sent out in December, we listed his mailing address as the one in his hometown (Swat). However, he is currently studying in Islamabad. Is there anyway we can update the address so that he receives the Packet 3 to his Islamabad address? That way he doesn't need to return to Swat to pick up the packet.

2) What will Packet 3 request? I read through the Pakistan Consulate Reviews, and I see these forms listed. Is this list updated?

DS-156

DS-157

DS-156K

DS-230 Part I & II

Parental Information Form

I-134 Affidavit of Support w/ Supporting Financial Docs from Petitioner

3) Do I file the I-134 or I-864? I have read different suggestions in different forums.

4) And what is considered sufficient supportive documents for this Affidavit? I am a student, so I will have my father as a co-sponsor. I am worried about sending my father's W-2 forms... is it safe? Will his tax returns and employment confirmation by boss be sufficient?

Many thanks for your support in this process and for any help/advice you can give.

Please note: Just found out that the K1 Visa requires I-134, not I-864. So, will both I and my father (my cosponsor) fill out I-134? Is there a different version for Co-Sponsor (like there is for I-864 and I-864A)?

Thank you, in advance!

From my experience, they emailed it to me. I then forwarded it to him.

Be sure he updates his address when he fills out the forms for the Visa Application with his current address.

2) What will Packet 3 request? I read through the Pakistan Consulate Reviews, and I see these forms listed. Is this list updated?

DS-156 (2 copies)

DS-157

DS-156K

DS-230 Part I & II (complete part 1 only)

Parental Information Form

I-134 Affidavit of Support w/ Supporting Financial Docs from Petitioner (This won't be required until the time of the interview)

It will also let you know that you will need the following civil documents as well (again, not needed until the interview but you should start gathering these together now if you haven't already)

-Original birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce/death certificates (for all prior marriages)

-Police certificates from ALL cities where you have lived for more than 6 months after age 16

-2 Passport photos

-Copies of the first 2 pages of the applicant's passport

-It will also give you instructions on the medical exam and where to get it done. Although they give you this information in packet 3.5 it also states that you should NOT schedule your medical until you get your interview date. Normally you should get an interview date 3-4 weeks after submitting packet 3.5 which is about how long they take to make sure the forms are complete.

3) Do I file the I-134 or I-864? I have read different suggestions in different forums. No, for K-1 just the I-134 and Yes, you will fill one out as well as your cosponsor.

4) And what is considered sufficient supportive documents for this Affidavit? I am a student, so I will have my father as a co-sponsor. I am worried about sending my father's W-2 forms... is it safe? Will his tax returns and employment confirmation by boss be sufficient? You can go online at the IRS website and request tax transcripts of the past 3 years, I used these for mine so that I didn't have to send my W2s. BUT these can take about 2-3 weeks to arrive to you in the US. Since these are needed at the time of the interview you definately have time to request them. Once you recieve them you can scan them and email them to your finace to print out to save time. This is just a recommendation.

Many thanks for your support in this process and for any help/advice you can give.

I hope this information helps! I wish you all the best!
