State Department introduces the Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF)

September 19, 2006

Effective October 25, 2006, all U.S. visa issuing posts in the Russian Federation, except for the U.S. Consulates General in St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg, will require that all applications for non-immigrant visas be prepared using the Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF). This requirement also applies to applicants for fiancй(e) visas.

After October 25 non-immigrant visa applications prepared using the old visa application form will not be accepted at either the U.S. Embassy in Moscow and the U.S. Consulate General in Vladivostok. However, until further notice, persons applying for non-immigrant visas at the U.S. Consulate General in St. Petersburg and the U. S. Consulate General in Yekaterinburg may use either the old visa application form or the Electronic Visa Application Form.

The Electronic Visa Application Form is a web-based application that enables applicants to fill out their application from any internet-connected computer and provides greater uniformity, accuracy and security in processing visa applications. The form is available online at http://evisaforms.state.gov.

The Electronic Visa Application Form is not available in the Russian language. All data must be entered in English. Additional information about the Electronic Visa Application Form, including a Russian language translation of the form, will be available at http://usembassy.ru/.

After filling out the form online, applicants should print their visa application form, which will include their data in a barcode format, and submit the completed hardcopy to Pony Express along with any other required documentation. The procedures for submitting visa applications via Pony Express will not be affected by the requirement to use the Electronic Visa Application Form.
