Working with EAD as F1

Hello,

I'm in a unique situation right now as I have received my EAD (from my parents applying for Green Card), but also have F1 status in the US. I recently got a internship offer for 8 months that would require either OPT or EAD, but my school told me that I cannot apply for OPT since I have not completed enough semesters as an F1 to be eligible. At the same time, our immigration lawyer is saying that there is a very small chance that my Green Card may not be approved since I'm already above the age of 21, even though they started the Green Card process well before I turned 18. This would mean that I would have to reapply for F1 status immediately if I decided to switch to EAD and my application gets rejected. The good thing the is I wouldn't have to go all the back to Bangladesh to reapply since we also have Canadian permanent residency.

I was wondering what the best course of action would be at this point. Should I take the small amount of risk and take up the internship? Is there certain laws that I'm not aware of about either the green card process or F1 status?

Thanks in advance.
