Hello

I am a novice. Recently I have received a B1 from my employer & I intend to cancel the trip for now.

* Is it true that the port of entry/departure seal enhances my chance of applying for Visas like F1 or H1B in the future? Because I am planning to cancel the trip for now & quit the company & search for a job/school there in US.

* Will I get either a B1 or B2 or both on my Visa?

* Is it possible that I travel using this visa in the future for job-hunting purposes?

* How hard is it to apply for a 'Change of Status' from a B1 to H1B without returning to the country [india] to avoid the H1B quota?

Because of the above, let me know if having an I-94 stamped on my VISA enhances my chances of future Visa application with the USCIS? If yes, I would want to reconsider the trip. KINDLY HELP.

You cannot avoid the quota merely by fibbing your way into the US....('Oh, I'm just here to visit friends...'

You will not be exempt from the H1B quota either way as other have mentioned.

You need to make up your mind do you want to come to US to study or work, you cannot have all these ideas about I wanna do this emmm no I wanna do that kinda stuff.

Having entry / exit stamp does not matter every application by embassy would be considered by case by case base, if you are applying for school your case would be considered by CO in that manner, if you are applying for H1B then CO would consider your case in that manner.

Your current B1 is not for job hunting, your current B1 is to be used to conduct business meeting for the company you are working with right now.

With current market conditions its pretty difficult to find a company that would sponsor a H1 and continue providing supporting documents as required each year.

Agree on everything, but would like to add:

1. Having previously held a US visa and stuck to the rules doesn't matter when applying for a new visa, but it does show ability to follow the rules. It's a little like a credit score - No history, they start from scratch. Regular on-time payments shows you've been trustworthy so far. Too many loans shows you're trying too hard (possible immigrant intent).

2. B-1 is definitely not a "job hunting visa", no. But you are allowed to look for jobs and attend interviews while on a B-1/2. You're just not allowed to accept employment.
