My nephew by marriage, is a Filipino citizen. His girlfriend is a U.S. citizen of Filipino descent currently living in the Philippines. They are thinking of filing for a K1 Visa so that they can both travel to the United States, get married, and then reside here in America. Can anyone here point me in the right direction so I can research the best way for them to do this? They have asked for me and my wife Sherry's help.

Thanks,

John & Sherry P.

PS Sherry and I have been married for 7 years now. Sherry and the 2 children are now U.S. citizens and doing fine.

You make want to check the domicile requirements of the US Citizen living in the Philippines. If they get married in the Philippines, and do the IR-1/CR-1 route, they could be together through most of the process, and save a lot of money. The timelines are about the same length. Again, she has to meet the domicile requirement if she is living in the Philippines.
