VACCINATION REQUIREMENT

Hi everyone!

We are very excited to have the NOA2 and we want to get everything ready anytime the schedule of medical and interview arrives. Better be advance so were not in a hurry specially we understand how long the document process in some gov offices in the Philippines.

I just like to know if its ok to have the vaccinations in advance while waiting for the packet from Manila embassy for the medical and interview schedule?

I got this below list of vaccines needed from US Embassy - Manila Phillippines website http://philippines.usembassy.gov/wwwfivk1.pdf

~Mumps

~Measles

~Rubella

~Polio

~Tetanus and Diphtheria toxoids

~Pertussis

~Influenza Type B

~Hepatitis Type B

~Varicella

~Pneumoccocal

Do you think we will not have any problem if we do this in advance? get this from any private hospitals in the philippines?

When you get packet 3 through it will have information about your medical with it. In the booklet is a chart telling you what vaccinations you need as they can vary. For example, I didn't need Hep B.

I'd hold off until you get packet 3 through, then get them done once you know what you need for definate.

BTW, the vaccines need to be "age-apt".

HIB (Influenza-B ) and Pertussis are not required for adult bene's.

Also, positive titres are acceptable for MMR and varicella.

So that leaves: Hep-B, pneumovax, Dt. (diph-tetanus), maybe polio.

Hep-B is also age related. I am 33 and didn't need to have it done (I'm from the UK). My son, who is 12, DOES have to have it. He is due his 2nd one (of 3) on Monday actually (local GP is doing them for us).

We have both have chicken pox so we won't need the varicella when we get to the States either. The vaccination nurse made a note of it on our forms and told us this.

You don't need to get any vaccination before your medical. During your medical, St. Luke's will give you all the vaccinations you need depending on what's available. Those vaccines are included in the fee that you're going to pay them.
