COLOMBIA VISA QUESTION

VJ Family,

I have convinced mi fiancee to wait in Bogota to get the Visa more quickly and that we will leave directly from Bogota as soon as we have the Visa, but I have a question. On the website where I scheduled the interview, there is no option to pick up the Visa directly from the Embassy. Am I missing something or do I need to select a DHL office in Bogota and pick it up from there? Is there a particular Bogota DHL office that is quickest?

Thank you!

Hey,Stefan... I'm going to get some current clarification on that for you in a few moments. (I hope!)

She was TOOOOOOO excited yesterday after the interview, to be able to answser all my questions.... jajaja... my interrogation was MUCH LONGER THAN her interview at the embassy :D

and, in case you missed it:

3 Questions,... 2 minutes.... VOILAAAA! LA VISA.

the only thing I got FOR CERTAIN from her yesterday about your question was, she said they told her she'd have the visa in hand WITHIN TWO WEEKS.

but, I think they tell them or her WORST CASE SCENARIO, jus to cover themselves.

Everyone here in Colombian section I believe says that IN BOGOTA, you should have the visa within 2-3 business days.

Now... once again... when is her interview to take place???

Easter... Semana Santa and Dia de Pasqual, you know... VERY BIG HOLIDAY WEEK IN COLOMBIA.

I could see this getting in the way of TIMELY ORDER AND FASHIONABLE DELIVERY... sorry to say so.

What? Easter is April 8th? i think.

From some colombians: Is the Semana Santa the week leading up to Easter or the week after Easter???

Just trying to help.

Stefan,

Okay, I talked with her and with her sister, a more experienced traveler, and straight-up.

AT THE INTERVIEW,... they will ask her or arrange with her which DHL office she/you want it delivered to in Bogota.

I would imagine there are probably 10 DHL offices around Bogota, more or less. Just guessing.

I don't think one is quicker than the next.

It's just a matter of when the embassy gets her visa out to DHL.

My gal wasn't sure, if they were gonna call her or email her, when the visa was ready for pick-up.

I'm still a lil unsure. DHL should deliver. But, maybe she has the option of them delivering or her picking it up at a DHL office.

At ... any... rate..... by-passing all the colombian b.s., I would imagine they (DHL) will call when the visa is at their office and then you have the option of either them delivering or you picking it up.

I hope! to be able to tell you EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED... about next Thursday.

Take care, brother.

It's all almost over!

Yes, you must select a DHL office in Bogota. My advice is to pick an office that has Saturday hours just in case... Also waiting in Bogota can/may take up to two weeks. At least one VJ'er had that experience. It used to take 2 to 3 business days to get the visa in Bogota. Lately it has taken 7 to 10 days. I was lucky. Our visa came through on the 4th day, on a saturday (that;s why I said pick a DHL with Saturday hours). I picked the Plaza Las Americas location. Also if your fiancee waits in Bogota an inexpensive and comfortable hotel is Hotel Casa Paulina.

Hope this helps. If you have any questions, feel free.

Arturo
