My wife got a call from the US embassy on 11th march asking us to come and collect our visa. This was after two interviews(DV Applicants),she told them i was outside the country and they said when i return back i should come over with our passports. I taught i would be in lagos before 29th march but my employer is saying i may stay till mid april before returning to nigeria. I am a bit worried now cos i dont the implication of the delay in submission of passports for visa. Should i mail the embassy if i cant make it before 1st april or i should just wait till i return to Nigeria. I am presently in Burkinafaso doing some telecoms related job for my company.

Are you not planning on leaving your job once u collect the visas? If so I would just explain to ur company that u have to go to the embassy to handle some important business and need to leave sooner than he said.......

usually i think patient just makes dry or one-liner comments so she can get the posting record on lagos.. lol.. but this time she makes a helpful point: aint you planning on relocating? i understand you might need more money from your job in preparation, but i suggest not to let your job delay you or upset the US embassy. explain to you job and if you have to return then do so... have you forgotten the stress/worries you took to get this visas? all the best

I understand you got a caller to say "at any time". I'd advise you to email the embassy and get a written reply. If you're coming to America you need to understand now that a paper trail is safer than word of mouth.
