Hi everyone-

Hopefully you all can help me with a couple of questions. I'm filling out form n400 and I'm stumped now in section 7 C.

Back in 2005 we went on a cruise and I can't remember the dates, I've looked at my passport but it only has the stamp from when we came back into the US, not when we left. Any ideas as to what can I do? I've called the cruise line and their records don't go back that far.

Also, this past December, I took a trip to Reynosa, Mexico. I was gone from 12/28/2011 to 01/04/2012. The "problem" I'm running into is that one day (12/30/2011) we crossed the border (legally of course) back to the US so that my family could do some shopping. Since I came back in the US, does it count as two trips? Or is it all one trip?

Any help you can provide, would be appreciated.

For the second question they ask for trips of 24 hours or more so you just do the math. If you got there on Dec 28th and came back on Dec 30th, that's more than 24 hours, right? So, after that did you go back to Mexico? If you did go back, and it lasted more than 24 hours it counts as another trip.

The first one, if you have pictures taken on the first day of your trip you can check the date there. That might make you remember how many days your trip lasted and refresh your mind. :)

You need to list your trips for the last 5 years. 2005 was more than 5 years ago. You may not even bother listing that trip.

It is a kind of confusing. So, your left the US on Dec 28, then came back on Dec 30 for a few hours and went back to Mexico on the same day? I would count it as one trip. The only reason why they want you to count all days you have spent out of the country is because they want to make sure your stayed in the US more than abroad.

Thank you for your replies!

That's what I had originally thought, but when I look at the instructions it says:

C. Provide the requested information for every trip that you have taken outside the United States since you became a lawful permanent resident. Begin with your most recent trip

That's why I'm now confused.

You are correct, on Dec 30 we were back in the US for 10 hours and then went back to Mexico.
