I had heard the Visa delivery takes 2 or 3 days in Bogota. That is no longer the case and they tell you 2 weeks but according to DHL personnel it takes 7 to 10 days. I was so happy when I logged in to the Via website and saw Visa in transit... but also sad because the odds ere i n favor of the visa reaching the DHL next week and Monday is a holiday in Bogota. I would have to leave today to be back at work on Monday and return next weekend for Andrea... but at noon the visa was delivered!!!! We bought the ticket today and we are leaving together tonight!!!!!

Thanks Visa Journey friends for all your help and support and here's looking forward to the next chapter of this journey.

Congratulations! I'm so happy for you and I expect to be living your experience in about 2 months. I have a couple of questions for you if you could be so kind.

1. When you made the medical appointment (I'm assuming it was done by phone), did they give you some type of confirmation? email or something? or was it just a "verbal" confirmation?

2. Did you need to make an appointment for all the labs? or was it on a walk-in basis? (first-come, first-serve kind of thing?)

3. How long you think it would take after interview is done for my "wife's visa" to be delivered, if she is not in Bogota? (She is in Barranquilla).

Thank you so much and please share your experience at POE when you guys arrive. Congrats again! and to your wife: Welcome to America!

1) You only get a verbal confirmation along with a list of all the things you need to bring.

2) No, it is walk in.

3) That can vary. They used to say 7 to 10 days outside of Bogota, but Arturo's story is an awesome one!

1. I made the appt by phone verbal confirmation. -- pick Dr. Dennis if you can ---it is worth it. He is a true professional and won't give vaccines that are not needed. Claudia is his secretary tell her I recommended Dr. Dennis to you.

2. No appointment needed for labs. You just have to get there early. We were overly cautious and got there at 6 am. Some days there is a long line some days there isn't. We lucked out and we were first in line. Yes first come first served. From 7 am to 10 am . The earlier you get there the better cause if you make the Dr appt for the pm the results are more likely to get there on time.

3. Right now the embassy says two weeks... realistically I would say about a week to 15 days.

You are very welcome and yes I'll keep you poted on POE experience. We are flying in about an hour and a half to Mexico City and then tomorrow morning to Phoenix.

They delivered on a Saturday?!?!?!? AWESOME! Congratulations!!! Safe travels to the USA!

YES! When you pick your DHL location pay attention to days and times of operation. In fact look at those before you make the appointment or edit if you have already made the appt. I pmade sure to pick one that had saturday delivery and it was a God send because otherwise we would not have received it until this coming Tuesday. Monday is a holiday here in Bogota and the embassy observes local holidays. Check those out.

Quick question: Was the tuberculosis test a requirement for your wife's visa?

Thanks!

The tuberculin test is given to children and a chest x-ray for adults. You are gven a rolled up x-ray to bring to POE but no one asks for it.

My sister F2a and nephew got approved 8/3/12, they got a call from DHL or they called DHL yesterday not sure which, but either way they told them it had arrived and would be ready for pick up today or monday 8/13/12. So not too bad. about 5 business days.

They live in Cali.
