The $680 for the N-400 is not a fee to guarantee speedy service.

What we, the American People, expect from an I.O. is that he or she makes sure that a person applying to become a U.S. citizen is qualified and eligible to do so. If there's any doubt, any doubt at all, then We The People expect the I.O. to investigate. We The People rather want the I.O. to err on the side of caution. There is no harm done if somebody has to wait a few weeks or even a few months longer, but there is plenty of harm in allowing somebody to become a U.S. citizen who is guilty of a false claim of citizenship, immigration fraud, material misrepresentation, or about anything that would prevent him or her from naturalizing.

The I.O. is doing his job here, and I for one are glad to see that he does. Becoming an American is an honor, not a right.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

I appreciate your response but don't see why you had to be so sarcastic.

I guess Brother H thinks he appoints even the Presidential candidate of this country. You may ignore these kind of irrelevant answers. After all we are paying the govt. to work, if they don't we've all rights to question them.
