DCF Canada success!! (Toronto)

We hit Toronto today for our attempt to DCF. I was very worried as I have very short term residency here, and had read that it may be 1 year requirement...

There was a protest against Bush in front of the embassy, so that was a little nutty. Then we got to the door, there was a girl waiting who turned to me and said "GUESS WHAT?!! They closed at Noon!". I felt my heart sink as we just spent 3 hrs on the freeway, and a day off from work for hubby. Never listen to the people outside! Turns our whatever SHE was there for, was cut off at noon.

Nice security guy asked what we were filing, and gave us royal treatment (in my mind!) and we went to the window he directed us, nobody waiting. Rang the bell, and found out right away I goofed :o For some reason when I read to bring 1 copy of Biographic, I thought it was just page 1. DUH. I guess since we were only going thru one place (and not service ctr, nvc, etc.)... well I ###-umed wrong. They handed me a new bio with carbon pages and I had to re-write both our biographics. I was so nervous that I clinched the pen hard enough to get white knuckles. It was just nerve wracking as I thought I'd make a mistake.

(So rule #2 bring all four pages!)

They accepted our made-at-home passport pics, and sent us to pay. I wasn't sure if this was *GOOD* but I assumed it was. Came back, she said congratulations. "Your immigrant visa has been approved"

So, the amazing part is, I have been a resident for 3 weeks. I was nervous as I don't have drivers license or OHIP card. They accepted my 2 day old PR card, and my brand spankin' new Social Insurance card. Never batted an eye.

I was at least expecting a comment on why so soon..... but nada. Just congrats!!

(should I add this note to the sticky?)
