Cross-posted from I-751 forum to get more responses. (I hope this isn't against the rules.)

Hi folks,

I was just wondering if I could get some input on our I-751 package and its completeness before I send it in. Have I forgotten anything?

  • Cover page / table of contents (basically a more verbose version of this list)
  • I-751 form
  • Copies of the passport (cover, front pages, executed K-1 visa and I-94), Permanent Resident card, Social Security card, and PA Driver's License (front and back) of Spoom (beneficiary)
  • Copy of ScooterMac's (USC / spouse) driver's license showing same address
  • Affidavit from ScooterMac's parents
  • Affidavit from ScooterMac's sister in law
  • Lease agreement and letter from ScooterMac's grandparents, our current landlords
  • Countersigned purchase contract for our new house (still in escrow, don't actually have the lease yet, I explain this on the cover page)
  • IRS tax return from 2010
  • Provisional IRS tax return from 2011 (I explain that we may have H&R Block redo it so it may not exactly match what we file, since the US Government just loves taking our moneys)
  • Signed letter from my company's president verifying my full time employment
  • Signed letter from my HR person verifying ScooterMac as primary beneficiary of my 401K
  • Copy of designation form showing designation of ScooterMac as primary beneficiary of the 401K
  • Copy of ScooterMac's 401K summary showing me as beneficiary
  • Signed letter from my HR person verifying my life insurance policy has ScooterMac as the beneficiary
  • Printout from life insurance website showing ScooterMac marked as beneficiary
  • First page of February 2012 statement of jointly-held bank account (I figure they don't need to know the details of every transaction, right?)
  • Auto insurance policy summary and identification cards showing joint auto policy covering both cars
  • Recent bill from Waste Management in my name
  • Summary letter of employee health insurance in my name covering ScooterMac
  • Scan of tickets from Cleveland Indians game (same game as a couple of the pictures also included)
  • Scan of various anniversary / birthday / Christmas cards addressed to both of us
  • About 28 pictures of us together throughout the last two years, with details on the back of each picture

Thanks!

Since the package is suposed to cover the entire time you have been married i would send in 2 or 3 diff bills/ bank statements etc, say from january then maybe june or december. They dont need the whole statements just the first / cover page with your names and addies on it.

do you have any renters insurance or anything else like that?

I dont think you / the immigrant actually needs to show anything regarding employment or has that changed? I mean you just have to show status of your marriage and relationship. the life insurance/ health, 401k items are the some of the best evidence. Since you have not closed on your house the copy of the purchase contract is a very good idea.

and dont for get the blasted cheque! lol.

Thanks for the suggestions about more bank statement cover pages, I'll definitely include those as far back as we can get them (I think we started this account pretty soon after I got an SSN).

As for employment, while I realize it's not listed on the instructions, I figure it can't hurt... my thinking is that if they know I'm not a drain on the system (which my taxes should prove... stupid self-employment tax) they're less likely to want to interview.

Kimbear: Yep, I read that, very enlightening. I believe I have most of his mentioned primary evidence covered with the life insurance / health insurance / 401K / bank account.

Haha, yes, I did. I'm sad that it's over. It's not exactly the same but Order of The Stick is great too and it's still going :)

Hi Spoom! Its been a while!

I think you have more than enough. But I do agree with the others on a few more bank statements. We did one for every 6 months. You have a few things I would consider unnecessary ( SSN card, copy of the K-1 and I-94, employment letter, and the sports tickets for example) but if they make you feel better about everything, than go with it. It can't hurt.

My logic for the SSN is secondary evidence of integration into US society; the visa and I-94, making the adjudicator's job easier; employment, evidence of not being a drain on the system; Indians tickets, documentary evidence that I was where a couple of the pictures show me to be.

Of course, I could just be massively overthinking it. ;)

We're sending it out today. I printed out more first pages of bank statements; one every six months for the life of the account, in addition to the oldest and newest statement. I also added more Waste Management bills. Hopefully that'll be enough!

Looks like we're in for a wait from the timelines. Oh well, we're pretty good about waiting (other than checking the USCIS update site every week obsessively).

Thanks folks!
