AOS + EAD + AP questions / timing

Hi VJ-ers,

We sent off hubby's AOS + EAD + AP packet last week. Now the wait begins.

Just wondering, how will we find out which service center has it? And if it gets transferred will we be notified?

I tried reading the guides, to no avail.

Also, I'm getting the vibe that it is good to be transferred to CSC. Have any VJ-ers doing AOS been transferred there _without_ having done the I-129F process first or are the transferees mainly I-129Fers who later did AOS?

Finally, my husband has a current EAD that expires 12/31/06 (he is in F1 status right noww, has been since arriving to US four years ago). I'm crossing my fingers but worried that he may be running right down to the wire before his new one arrives. We would need to request an appt on 12/26/06 to find out what happened. Any chance, with the holidays, that he would get an appointment before the new years and his actual card by then too?

I know, lots of questions.... thanks for any help you may offer.

National Benefits Center, aka Missouri Service Center at Lees Summit.

Yes, there were a lot of K1 transfers.

As to your husband - I am afraid he is not in F1 status, since he used K1 visa to enter. His EAD was issued for OPT. I am not quite sure if he can use the EAD related to F1. I would suggest online consultation with a competent immigration attorney. Maybe other vj-ers will chime in.

I am not sure about your first question -Where did you see this info?

Ardilla has a timeline filled out for K1. She mentions I-129F and marriage on 8/26. She also thinks he is in F1 status.

Timeline only mentions date of marriage, also she implies she hasn't "done" I-129F process.

Hi, just clarifying here:

I know my timeline says K1, but that's kind of an error...I cannot figure out how to enter an AOS timeline without having K1 pop up.

To clarify, hubby entered on F1 4 years ago, has maintained status the entire time. We married, and have applied for AOS. He is currently on OPT EAD from his previous F1 status. The OPT expires 12/31/06. Our AOS + EAD + AP packet was submitted 9/26/06.

Q: to what service center will our case be transferred? is it random, or is there a pattern (eg based on geography? karma? etc?)

Q: how will we know where it was sent?

Q: does it go from the service center to our local USCIS field office for our interview?

finally, repeating my previous question:

Q:My husband has a current EAD that expires 12/31/06 I'm crossing my fingers but worried that he may be running right down to the wire before his new one arrives. We would need to request an appt on 12/26/06 to find out what happened. Any chance, with the holidays, that he would get an appointment before the new years and his actual card by then too?

Or are we going to have to start saving our pennies ?

Thanks for any clarification....
