Hi everyone i am new to the forum and i have read alot of the other forum posts getting ready to start my own CR/130 to sponsor my wife from Afghanistan.

I just have a few questions that i couldn't get an answer to from reading other forum posts on i864/i864a, there is alot of conflicting answers.

I am 22 years old , US citizen, College graduate.

I am currently finishing my 2nd degree and as a student have 0 income.

I live with my parents and my sister, and my parents count me and my sister as dependents on their tax forms.

I want to sponsor my wife from Afghanistan, based on the CR- 130 visa system.

My parents income exceeds the 125% above poverty limit for a family of 5( this is including my soon to be sponsored wife).

We will all be living in the same house.

I had a few question about the i864 affidavit of support. I read the other post but they give conflicting statements.

In order to sponsor her i need both of my parents incomes to meet the poverty line requirements. They file taxes jointly.

1. Do i file 1 i864 for myself as the main sponsor with 0 income listed, and 2 i864a 's for my mom and dad as household members?

Or

2. 1 i864 for myself as main sponsor with $0 income, one i864 for my mom , and i864a for my dad.

keep in mind i am adding the incomes of my mom and dad , i.e household members to my own.

Thanks

Hi, Welcome to VJ. We hope your journey will be stress free and fruitful.

The Petitioner is always the main sponsor with or without an income. so, option 2.

2. 1 i864 for myself as main sponsor with $0 income, one i864 for my mom , and i864a for my dad.

Goodluck
