Hi everyone, I was wondering how to go about the port of entry. Me and my fiance will be using the Tijuana/San Ysidro port of entry. We're using the pedestrian crossing...I was thinking of walking up to the officer with him but I'm not sure if he has to do it by himself. What do you guys suggest? The thing is he doesn't speak English quite well. Thanks in advance :)

I've gone through that crossing countless times, and I don't think there'll be any problem if you walk up to the officer with him. You're both crossing, and I've seen that families that cross together go to present their documentation to the officer together. I'd think that the officer would even expect you to come up together—but if not, I'm sure they'll be happy to tell you to wait. :)

The officers all speak Spanish (to varying degrees of success), and they're used to dealing with folks that don't speak any English, so your husband needn't worry.

My wife did her POE there, for a CR-1 visa, although she drove across. What will probably happen is that you folks talk to the POE officer, and once they see that they're processing an immigration case, they'll pull you into secondary inspection. They'll probably have you walk to another building further back where you'll wait and hand in your paperwork. And be prepared to wait. My wife spent about an hour there, although they were busy that day.

It's a busy border crossing, but the folks there are used to dealing with this sort of thing. Go with patience and confidence, and relax. It should be a piece of cake.
