I heard it helps.

I know of few people that were denied of a visa (but a tourist visa) from different countries because of the lack of a return ticket.

A few years back you couldn't even buy a one-way-ticket from Poland to the US - it was just impossible - now they don't care - they just know that you are the one loosing, plus one way tickets are way more expensive than round-trip tickets so I guess it is better either ways to buy a round trip than one way :) Hope it helps :)

To enter the United states with a B1/B2 Visa (visiting for personal business), do they require you show proof of a return ticket?

They don't always ask to see your return ticket. When they do, you would need to be able to show them the return ticket or have a very convincing explanation for why you don't have one.

You can find several stories on this site of people who were denied entry because they only had a one way ticket.
