late IRS overseas tax returns

Hi,

is anybody familiar with the process of late filing IRS tax returns for the past 3 yrs as required for the IRS transcript for the i-864?

I am a US citizen filing for my husband, have never worked in the US thus have never filed as US tax return. I am self-employed in Greece and need to now file 3 years worth of tax returns with the IRS. Anyone know how long the IRS will take to process the tax returns and send me a tax return transcript?

Since you are doing late returns for back years it will not be filed electronically so it would have to be mailed. Go to a tax professional company such as H & R block and they will assist you. Since this is the peak time for taxes mailing the return to the IRS will take several weeks. So get your documents and get them done ASAP.

Your current year tax return can be filed electronically and you can get a copy of the return when you filed it usually the same day. The prior year returns will take time.
