Hi folks! First post here, but I've been reading this forum for a while. Before anything else, let me thank everyone for the wealth of info you've collected here.

I'm about to file IR-1 for my wife. I live in Maryland, so I think the case will go to VSC. My wife is currently in Hongkong.

From the processing timeline, it looks like I130 and I129F will probably be approved at the same time. If the I129F is approved earlier, how can I change the I130 stuff from consular interview to adjustment of status in the US?

Also, I gather it's more advantageous to go on with the I130 if the dates of approval are close to each other, right?

Thanks in advance!

Have her apply for a K3 visa when your I-129f petition is approved, then apply for adjustment after she's entered the USA. When the I-130 is approved, have her tell the NVC that she is in the USA and has applied for adjustment.
