Hi. I need help. Those first time immigrant like my family dont they need to undergo a SEMINAR before departure? I dont know what its called anymore but I remember going through that training when it was first time for me to fly to US then they put a STICKER into my passport/visa. Is that still a requirement?? Will my wife get that notice after receiving her IR1 visa? We're clueless right now.

All FIlipinos leaving the country need to go through the CFO seminar for pre-departure. It is two parts. You got hrough the seminar and then after you receive the seminar certificate, you go to CFO and they stamp and sign your passport. Both require a fee. Below is the link you can use to obtain information, requirements and fees. They cannot leave the Phjilippines without it and the stamp in their passport. There is also a travel tax of around 16000 to 17000 PHP for leaving. This does not include the terminal fee which I believe is 550PHP. Hope this helps you.

Travel tax for 17,000 pesos? I've never heard of that. Arent they included on your plane ticket???

Yes you are required to pay a travel tax at the Philippine airport you are departing and no it is not included in the price of your airline ticket. I was wrong about the amount. It is 1,620PHP. See the link below. You can also Google it if you still don't believe me.
