Hi all.

This probably has been asked a thousand times. I want to know what I need to take with my to my K-1 visa interview that isnt stated on the us.gov website.

Do I need my fiances birth certificate?

I have my birth certificate in long version, where do I get a certified copy of it? ASAP! my interview is in 2 weeks!

His mum is our affadavit of support, do I need his tax information too? W-2's?

I am taking further proof of ongoing relationship too just for the hell of it.

I have 2 x police reports of all the places i've lived over 6 months.

But I am STILL nervous. I really don't want to get there unprepared.

I have a lawyer which ofcourse has been helpful but also difficult as I haven't 100% understood the process of this application and he sent me a very large package with all the affadavit of support completed and says I don't need to bring anything else. But still, I have butterflies.

Please help settle me down!

Thanks!

Your best source of information is the London Embassy website. Here is what they tell you to bring to the interview http://london.usembassy.gov/interview_documents.html

No to USCs birth certificate.

No to USCs tax return if it doesn't show sufficient funds to sponsor you.

You should bring your appointment letter and the email you got showing you paid the visa fee in advance. And when you line up on the day and see a sign or hear an embassy employee saying be sure an have the DS-160, remember that is not for a K1. It's for the masses in line to get tourist or work visas. Do not panic because you do NOT need a DS-160.

You should have recieved a letter listing everything you need to take with you; I know I did. Also, be prepared for a long wait.

I arrived early and the queue was about a mile long outside the embassy. Before we went in, we had to leave certain personal

items in a security hut outside. You collect these on your way out.

Now, as to the nerves. I was very nervous too but there is no need. The interview, for me at least, was a brief one. He asked

for some items from the folder of documents I had brought with me. He also wanted the black envelope I was sent. Then he asked some

questions. The ones I remember are as follows:

1.Where did we meet?

2.Had I visited the US before?

3.Had he (ie fiance) visited the UK before?

4.What did I do for a living.

5.What kind of employment was I looking for in USA

That was it. Then I was given a blue slip, I think it was blue, because my other half forgot to get our support document witnessed. I was approved pending the signed document. My fiance corrected the error and sent me a new doc to forward to immigration. Then, I got my visa shortly afterwards.

Good luck to you! You will be more than fine!
