hi everyone i entered the USA on a k1 visa, i arrived here on sept 5th, as we all know i had 3 months to get married, until dec the 4th (which i am married) but if im not mistaken the expiration date on my i-94 was til the 4th of December, i have yet to file for a ssn and reading on the guides here it states that i had to get it before the expiration date on my i-94, i now after getting married want to file for it but im confused on what to do since i think the i-94 has expired. Can i still apply for it, what will i need to do since it has expired? this is what i came across with "

As a K-1 Visa Holder you are eligible to receive a SSN upon producing a valid I-94 (unexpired). Do

not wait until you only have a few weeks left until your I-94 expires to file for a SSN. Many SSA

offices will not allow you to file for a SSN if your I-94 is about to expire"

hi,

if your 1-94 is expired u cannot apply for ssn as no.1 requirement is unexpired 1-94 however if you file AOS after your marriage, you can file also work authorization, advance parole together with your adjust status application, once your work authorization is granted and mailed to you you can apply for SSN using your work authorization card, your passport, marriage certificate and your birth certficate, that way u can have ur ssn in your married name, you dont need ssn to file for AOS..so JUST go ahead if your ready to file aos,
