My fiance and I have an unusual situation surrounding the financial support component of the visa interview -- has anyone had a similar experience?

We lived in the UK together and I moved back to the US about a month ago. As such, I have not been earning in US dollars for the amount of time required by the Affidavit of Support, and my parents are not comfortable signing off for us, as they are paranoid about giving the government details of their income (though I know that they would qualify to sponsor him).

My fiance is a freelance software developer and has very recently done work for American companies. We have read through the forums to seek information about self-sponsoring, and one seemed to indicate that if he will continue working in this capacity that this is sometimes acceptable. The requirements for evidence of financial support seem to be arbitrary -- is it worth it for him to try to sponsor himself based on his income and the flexible nature of his work?

It makes sense that he would be able to keep working and pay British taxes until we are married thereby not causing the deficit in income that would affect most people. This whole component of the application seems to be about how well you can convince the CO that you can support yourself. We have no one to ask in the US, so this presents a potentially big problem.

I'm sorry, I think the answer is NO. Fiance/Fiancee. I believe you as the USC and Petitioner have to show Income to meet the Guildlines alone. I know not the answer your looking for.
