My fiance keeps asking me if I will have my Visa and Passport back so that we can spend Christmas together. I am not sure how to answer his question. I had my interview November 16, 2011 in Montreal. The local Police department messed up on my criminal background search letter and put 2010 instead of 2011. The envelope and receipt both showed 2011 and the letter 2010. The CO told me that he had to take the letter at face value. He told me to to go back to the Police station and have them correct the letter and to send in the new letter and my Passport and my Visa would be approved. The Consulate has had this new letter plus my passport for a week now. How long will it take for them to add the new letter to my application and approve the Visa and for me to get my passport back? Will the Consulate actually keep my passport for 60 days? I just don't know what to expect and I don't know what to tell my fiance as I don't know when I should expect to receive my passport back with the Visa. Has anyone had this happen and or can anyone offer me any advice? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. :help:

Call DOS and ask them for updates on your case frequently. You can also email Montreal and hope they email you back.

There is really nothing you can do, some people have waited 4 months to get anything back when sending in 1 missing document. Its a #######-shoot as to when you will get it really.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

Can they keep my passport that long? Means I can't travel anywhere at all.

You can travel anywhere in Canada without one, just cant leave Canada without it. They can keep it that long and have in the past for some people, some have even had to request the passport back so they can travel then have to send it back to Montreal to wait for the visa again.
