If you are are under 16 years old or have spent less then 6 mohts in a country you do not need a police clearance certificate.

Doesnt matter about where you lived in India. I personally lived in 3 state after my 16+ age, and got the PCC from Chennai ( within 5 hours ). They will verify your details online, as they have national-wide data for all this.

Just a quite note, I got this done from Passport Seva Kendra. So make sure, if this office is available in your location, as they are very faster to process the request.

All you need ONE PCC, and that is their responsibility to verify all places. If you want more assured answer, you can call US Embassy Immigration department.

Thank you!

Nothing should be hidden. That is all right you added all those info, and you should add it too.

All you need ONE PCC from the current place where you are living. That particular place is responsible to verify all of your past state details.

I better suggest you to visit the passport office if you havent, and try to do anything whatever you can to get this PCC.

Since I got this PCC from Chennai, and you are now in Kerela. So things can be different. As it all depend up to the office who is available.

Honestly, if we meet someone who has out-dated info, then what we can do!!! Just try whatever you can to get your PCC.

As per my talk with US Embassy, they said clearly that all they need ONE PCC from current city, even you lived in so many other cities, states of India.

Hope you should be no more confused now.

Exactly right. I needed to mention everything as it is about where I lived before, etc etc. You left Dubai at the age of 12, so you do not require anything from there. As per US Embassy law, they need PCC when you are 16+ older.

If they ask you anything about where you lived in childhood, just say straight forward " Truth ". No need to hide anything. No need to get concerned about anything.

I hope, officer is enough intelligent, because sometimes if we get in touch with people who has no idea about what they are talking, it is really hard to deal with them at this point.

In simple words, people scared me about PCC. I felt it was the deal to get it esp when I stayed in 3 different state after my 16+ yrs.

But when it came to reality, I got the PCC within 5 hours, in Chennai, Passport Seva Kendra. No hassle!!!

What I added doc:

#1 - Fill the form online and submit it.

#2 - Take the print of acknowledgement receipt, and reached there office next day

#3 - Doc that they needed: Acknowledgement receipt, Passport photocopy, 2 BSNL Landline Bill Photocopy & Original for address proof. Since my passport address is different than Chennai address, so I required to add BSNL Landline phone bills.

That is it! Everything went smooth! Overall it was easier and painless way to get PCC. :-)

Anyway, I do not know how the laws work in Kerela, whatever is possible, just get your PCC. Give them some money, hope they will do quick process for you!

P.S - Dubai Police clearance would be needed if you lived there after your 16+ yrs only! Since you left that place at the age of 12, so you do not require PCC from Dubai. Hope it is clear to you now.

getting a pcc from kerala is not a problem...the reason am worried is because i know a case where the beneficiary resides in china but had been to UK two yrs back..so nvc asked them to submit UK PCC after they reviewed their IV packet...hmm..have u sent ur IV packet? which stage r u in now?

Exactly that is the different case. Lets say if you were in Dubai for 1 year, but after your 16+ yrs old then you also would require to get PCC from Dubai. But you left the Dubai at the age of 12, so you do not need that from there.

Not yet submitted IV Package. I am in process to collect my duplicate Birth Certificate. I have asked one of my friend to get it for me since I am in Chennai, and my friend said that he is in process, hoping will get it by Monday. Beside that, all documents are ready.

I really wish to submit them right away!
