Greetings!

I petitioned for my wife and went through the process (USCIS, NVC). Finally I got a notice of interview date for Nov. 29th at US Embassy in Ankara. The NVC appointment was a month ago but still our case number doesn't show up on the Embassy's web site. Anybody has had similar experience? What is going on?

Also the instruction on the embassy's site (http://turkey.usembassy.gov/media/pdfs/iv_instructions_052011.pdf) the beneficiary should complete DS-230 and send it with supporting documents. But we already have done that. Note that the step 2 of the instruction says that if you have submitted I-864, disregard this step. But it doesn't say the same thing about DS-230.

I am starting to panic now.

Cheers.

Well I am going thru the same process as you. My husband is turkish and I am waiting for interview day. However, I got my case number from NVC. I even send my husband ds-230 from turkey. My understanding for you to pay AOS AND DS-230 you need a case # from NVC. I think you should call NVC and find out what is going on or you can send an email to Ankara embassy

Thank you Eve. I have already paid AOS and DS-230 fees and have a case# and appointment letter from NVC. I did call NVC who affirmed the date but also said that I needed to contact the embassy. It is very difficult to call the embassy (you are supposed to call them 3:30-4:30 PM, local time and very difficult to get through). I was lucky to get through and the person I talked to, confirmed the appointment. However I also submitted an email form for which I have not received a response, even after two weeks.

Good luck to you --and all of us :)

Am in Ankara and will be petitioning for my wife soon. I have questions about the process, been trying to get in touch w/ somebody from the Ankara embassy. NO REPLY to my e-mails, can't get through the automated phone message, can't get a "paid" appointment at the embassy bec. this is immigrant visa, not a non-immigrant one. I am basically relying on the info that I will get from this website to prep docs.

Can I ask: How long did it take for you FROM sending of I-130 docs to Chicago, TO appointment date?

Thanks!

I submitted my stuff early March (3rd. or 4th. I believe). Got the NOA in about 1 week, then NOA2 in about 5 months. A month after that NVC has entered my case in their system (they do it manually and until they have done it, you cannot pay fees). I paid the fees then and a couple of weeks later got a letter of date assignment for end of November.

So my case took about 9 months from mailing to interview date.

When you submit to the consulate (Consulate filing), it is much faster. From what I here maybe a few months.

Cheers and good luck.
