Help with Document Problems

My husband and I are sent in the last paperwork to NVC prior to his interview in Russia (I am a US citizen in the US and he is in Russia now). We have turned in his certified and translated Divorce Certificate from Russia and also his Birth Certificate from the Ukraine and both were accepted. Now, NVC wrote and said for both documents the following: "The document you submitted is not an original or certified copy of an original issued by the appropriate government authority. The document must be an original, or a certified copy of the original bearing the original seal or stamp from the issuing authority."

What do they want? The divorce paperwork came from the court that the divorce was issued in. His birth certificate is the only one he has ever had from the Ukraine when it was the USSR. Is there a letter we can write to explain this? Has anyone else had this problem?

I suggest to call NVC and speak to an operator. They are very friendly and helpful, that has been my experience with them. Good luck!
